P.O.S.T. PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST

Cadets are required to participate in a physical training (PT) regimen. This includes group runs and circuit training which includes push ups, abdominal crunches, leg raises and pull ups. Cadets will be trained to effectively run through a course of various obstacles including hills, chain link fences and six-foot solid wood and concrete walls. PT is progressive and begins with short runs and fewer repetitions.

The POST physical agility test (PAT) consists of five separate events.  Cadets have two opportunities to successfully complete each event.  Events are scored based on the time required to complete.  The time/score criteria is different for each event.  The score for all events are accumulated for a total score.

The Reserve Academy entry benchmark is 70% of the POST required point accumulation for all events, but you will not be dropped for a low entry score. 100% of the POST required point accumulation is required by the end of the 5-month academy session.

Each event is described as follows:

99-Yard Obstacle Course Run on a 99 yard course on a flat surface that includes three curb-height obstacles and one 3-foot solid fence.
Body Drag Drag a 165lb dead-weight on a flat surface for 32 feet
6-Foot Solid Fence Climb Run five yards to a 6-foot solid obstacle.  Scale the obstacle, drop down on opposite side and run an additional 25 yards.
6-Foot Chain Link Fence Climb Run five yards to a 6-foot chain link fence.  Scale the fence, drop down on opposite side and run an additional 25 yards.
500-Yard Run Run 500 Yards on a flat surface.
